Can you believe that It has almost been 11 months since we were ready to welcome the year 2020 with lots of desires and expectations? Did you ever think that half of the world’s population would be on lockdown? If 2020 is such How good do you expect the future to be? Are you ready to face the challenge?
The Year 2020 turned out somewhat special than other years for most individuals as it was remarkable to mark the beginning of a new decade.so People from various regions across the world celebrated the new year joyfully with their loved ones lighting fireworks and as in their traditional cultures. But this happiness didn’t last long. Regardless of whatever things were done no one ever knew what the year was keeping on hold.
In January 2020 Australian bushfire season has already begun and become intense, burning 47 million acres where wild animals lost their habitats and were injured. Unfortunately, some species were forever extinct. Thousands of people were isolated, and some even lost their lives in the fire. This was a major challenge Australia faced because of the devastating wildfire season which continued from December 2019 until May 2020.
Making the situation even worse, January of 2020 was declared as the planet’s warmest January ever encountered. The global land and ocean temperatures were the highest records at 2.05 degrees which was above the 20th-century average. Following this, the earth just had its 2nd warmest February on record behind 2016.
It was obvious to many parties that earth was facing all these consequences from different parts of the world owing to some uncontrolled practices of mankind. Greenhouse gases have been emitted to the environment starting from the industrial revolution up to now. This has caused a phenomenon called global warming which is responsible for climate change and most of the other major challenges that we face today.
Unsurprisingly, reports found that the carbon dioxide gas has reached an all-time highest level there have been in human history despite the economic slowdown due to COVID-19.
People realized that the world situation was even getting worse when WHO announced coronavirus, COVID-19 as a pandemic. From its emergence from Wuhan, China the virus has now spread almost across the globe to more than 62.2 million people, resulting in a total number of 1,450,000 deaths up to now. This has now turned out to be a global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since world war two.
Unfortunately, this was not just the end, People were not ready to believe that the worse times were yet at its beginning until the giant explosion on 7th August at a warehouse in a port sent a shockwave through east and downtown Beirut, the capital of Lebanon which once again made all human beings worldwide remain devastated.
As to all the Challenges we have overcome this year it has ultimately reached us to a milestone of millions of deaths and suffering to mankind under an almost intolerant burden of loss. Remaining Many to Wonder if this year can get any worse.
Following from the west coast wildfires, Earthquakes, Floods and of course the Corona Virus this year has kept everyone at the edge of their seats waiting for what is to come next.
Therefore, we must identify the Global challenges that would affect humanity and of course do the necessary to protect mother nature and avoid emerging new disasters and outbreaks of pandemics.
